Welcome
to our website and thank you for your interest in our dairy goat herd.
Meadow Club Dairy Goats is located in Lovettsville, Virginia, a small
town in the northern part of the state, but near cosmopolitan life in
Washington DC. Our
dairy goat avocation began in 1978 with the purchase of an Alpine and a
Nubian as 4-H projects for my two daughters. Soon these two and their
offspring were joined by a LaMancha for my son. The children are now
adults, and the goats have remained thru several moves and a herd name
change. Today the herd is managed with the help of my daughter, Cathy
Maloid Russell and her children John and Teresa. The
herd consists primarily of LaManchas. Our first Saanen was added in
2005, thanks to Diana Patton, Windsor Manor. It is our intent to
maintain a small herd of quality Saanens. We
attend 8-12 ADGA sanctioned shows every year. We have attended ADGA
National shows in 1985, 1999, 2004 and 2006. The herd was appraised in
2006, and plan on appraising again this year, 2008.
All
kids are raised on a CAE prevention program which includes cow
colostrum and free choice pasteurized goat milk. The herd is
vaccinated for tetanus and enterotoxemia and wormed regularly. Grain
is a 16% protein, and kid grain contains a coccidiostat. Hay is either
grass and/or alfalfa, whichever is available. If
you are interested in reserving a kid, we require a $100.00 deposit to
secure your reservation, and the balance is due within two weeks of the
kid's birth. If the balance is not received during this time, your kid
will be offered to another interested individual. We do not refund
deposits on canceled orders. Prices may change on unreserved kids
after they are born. We
prefer to ship at 4 weeks of age. Airports we use are Dulles and
Baltimore/Washington. All shipping costs and veterinarian costs/health
certificates are at buyers expense.
